Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey is one of the most famous religious buildings in London. The building dates from the thirteenth century, with Henry III. It's the burial place of some of the kings and queens of
England and also men and famous women. All the coronations of English monarchs was held in the abbey.

The real name of the abbey church is St. Peter's College. Westminster means "abbey west", just because it was located west of the City (as opposed to Eastminster, Cistercian monastery which was
to the east). In Old French, Westminster Abbey was called Ouestmoutiers.
It is classified as World Heritage by UNESCO since 1987.
